This one is for the guests!
Here’s the thing, prospective wedding guest. The bride and/or groom want you to be a part of your special day! They’ve hired a planner and countless vendors to throw the biggest party of their lives. And they’ve asked me to create a piece of art that tells you what you need to know so you can be there with them. My calligrapher has beautifully addressed all of the envelopes, and we’ve stamped them and mailed one to you. They have imagined the excitement you’ll feel when you go to the mailbox and see something so beautiful or awesome it can’t possibly be a bill. And you know you made the cut!
Stop what you are doing! When you open that envelope, there are 3 things you need to do immediately! Here they are:
Take a picture
Seriously, take out your phone and snap a picture of the invite. Now if you misplace it, you have all the info. I’ve heard from brides the day of their weddings getting calls and texts from guests asking what time to come or where to go. That is why they sent an invitation! They do not have time to answer your call, but they also already paid for your meal if you RSVP’d so please take the picture. Take the picture, even if you lose the invite, you’ll still know the details!
Put the RSVP date on your calendar
You might not know right away if you’re going. Brides get that. They’re at the mailbox the day after they mailed them off to see if anyone responded. But then the RSVP date passes and they’re still waiting. Or making calls. And you know when you get that call or that email, you feel like a crappy friend. So put it on your calendar a week before the due date to send it back. Hey, if you can send it back the day you get it even better, but if you can’t the couple will thank you for making sure you don’t forget to RSVP.
Get excited!
You know you love a wedding! Dressing up. Great food. Cake. Friends. It’s going to be awesome!
